Who knew that you could learn to dance Salsa On2 from a professional instructor at Rutgers University? Now you know. New-York-Style Salsa dance courses are being taught at Rutgers University. Learn how to dance the same Salsa timing as all the professional dance instructors and performers in New York City.
Rutgers Salsa dance courses will kick-off on Friday, September 11th 2009 at 7:30pm. Register through the RUTGERS REC WEBSITE. Select “Joshua, Dany” in the instructors drop down menu and search.
Register online now! It’s easy and fast. Deadline is approaching and space is limited. Student discount is applied at the end of the checkout process. Please note that the Friday classes are the only ones open to the general public. Tuesday classes are only open to Rutgers students and staff.

“Orquesta SON 9: Canta Gilberto Velez Jr” is the official name of this ten-piece orchestra, nine musicians plus one. The band is new, but the roster of this band is very familiar. Gilberto Velez Jr was featured last year at the New York International Salsa Congress as the lead singer on Saturday night! So this band is new but not amateur.

If you didn’t already know, Rutgers University is offering Salsa On2 dance classes. Eddie-Torres-Style Salsa, New-York-Style Salsa, Salsa On2 or New York Mambo or whichever name you call it, Rutgers has it!
The new Rutgers rec courses catalog for Spring 2009 is available now at recreation.rutgers.edu. There are 4 Salsa courses beginning on Jan 31st and Feb 3rd. Each course is six (6) weeks long and will cover the same material as many New York, Salsa On2 dance classes.
Registration opens on Wednesday, January 21st. The Friday courses are open to the public!!!

Scarlet Mambo has made a big push to become an elite disc jockey service in the New York and New Jersey Salsa scenes. Having a dancer’s perspective, the Scarlet Mambo DJ’s strive to play the best music for Salsa dancers. In fact, in a perfect world, DJ Dany J and DJ Leonard would exclusively play Salsa exclusively for dancers only, 100% of the time! (redundancy intended)
With this in mind, Scarlet Mambo is “on tour” in New York and New Jersey, making appearances at Salsa socials of some of the most prestigious Salsa personalities. Last week, on January 3rd, 2009, the Scarlet Mambo DJ’s made an appearance at Yesenia’s Dance Factory Salsa Social.
On Saturday, January 17th, 2009, Scarlet Mambo is scheduled to spin music at “The House of Dance Salsa Social”, hosted by Griselle Ponce.
In New York, DJ Dany J will be playing at Sabor Tuesdays at Iguana every Tuesday for the the month January (2009). DJ Dany J plays a long set that is followed by DJ Antonio La Conga.

After a two-week hiatus due to Christmas and the New Year falling on Thursdays, Scarlet Salsa Thursdays at 360 Lounge are back this week.
